Historic Avenel holds a special place in our hearts because it is not only in our town but because we got married here. Like everyone, when we decided to get married, we wanted to do it in a special place. We would ride by often and look at this beautiful, old plantation home. We decided we had to get married here, it's like we were drawn to it almost. We met with the director, who is also over events, and after hearing the story of Avenel decided this was the place...and hearing of the Lady in White who roams the halls was the icing on the wedding cake! Several of the pictures that some of our guests had taken had something interesting in them and we had some personal experiences that day, too. Later, after starting our group, we decided Avenel was the first investigation we wanted to do. Originally Avenel was built in 1838 by Mr. William Burwell and his wife. They had 2 daughters, one of which could be The Lady in White, or it could be Mrs. Burwell herself.
This picture was taken at our wedding by our photographer. The window above us, is to the office, which is always locked to the public. She said someone is clearly up there! Could it have been the Lady in White herself, our otherworldly guest of honor!

This picture was taken in the pink room upstairs, the night of our investigation. Heather and I were the only 2 in the house at the time and were standing across from the couch beside the door. Just before she took this picture, I had just asked if there was anyone who would like to come and sit with us for a bit. It appears that someone did just that!
