Everyone has their own idea about how investigations work, what happens, and what evidence you find. Television doesn't really help because paranormal investigations are all glammed up on the big screen! Every paranormal show you watch shows the group going in and flawlessly setting up their equipment. They make contact with the other side and will show things happening on their videos or they get EVP's left and right. Yeah well...that isn't really how it works. Most of us don't have a camera crew following us around and setting up the scenes, if you will. It takes time to go in and do what we call a baseline sweep with some of our equipment, this helps us to know what a normal reading should be. During an investigation, if we go above the normal reading then that could mean we have some paranormal activity happening. After a baseline sweep, we determine where to set up our equipment and that takes a little time. Then we begin our investigation. Let me be the first to tell you that we may investigate for 3 or 4 hours and not get so much as a mouse scuttle across a floor. Other times we can investigate and there is activity from the minute we set foot inside. In the cases of activity happening, we also have to determine if whatever it is can be explained & de-bunked as some like to call it. Let's face it, not every location is haunted and not everything that happens is paranormal. It's our job to prove or disprove if a location is haunted.
